Courses

Beginning in Fall 2022, SCET courses will be listed under the Engineering (ENGIN) course numbers 183 (undergraduate) and 283 (graduate). Prior to Fall 2022, SCET courses were listed under the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (INDENG) course numbers. In the course table above, course number equivalencies are listed for easy reference.

• Permission required - This likely means the class requires an application to be considered for admission into the class. Please see the class description for details. 
• Class is full - If the class is full, you can add yourself to the waitlist. 
  • If the class has reserved seats which are not filled, those seats may be given to students on the waitlist closer to the start of the semester. 
  • We may also open up additional seats closer to the start of the semester. 
  • If the class is combined with undergraduate and graduate sections, see below on career restrictions.
• No valid appointment - Your enrollment window is closed and you must wait until your next phase opens.
• Time conflict - SCET classes do not generally allow for time conflicts. If your other enrolled class allows for time conflicts, you must send confirmation that you do not need to attend the other class (ex: syllabus or note from instructor). We can only override the time conflict to enroll you in the SCET class, so you should enroll in the other class before requesting that we enroll you in the SCET class.
• Unit value max - If adding this class would put you over your unit value max, you must resolve this by dropping a class, waiting until you can add more units or petitioning to your college to raise your max.
• Career restrictions - The class falls outside your career of study. If you are an undergraduate student, you cannot enroll in the 200 level section. If the 100 level section is full, add yourself to the waitlist. If seats in the 200 level section are not filled, they may be given to the 100 level section waitlist closer to the start of the semester.

Some, not all, classes have an application that you must submit in order to be considered for enrollment. If the class has an application, the application link and additional information will be listed in the class description and on the course page on the SCET website.

If the class has an application deadline, it will be listed. If it does not list a deadline, you should submit your application as soon as possible to be considered, but the class will likely take applications through the beginning of the semester. The earlier you apply, the earlier you may hear back.

You will not be able to enroll until you are admitted and given permission to enroll. Instructors will make decisions at varying times so please do not email to inquire. Once a decision has been made, you will be notified.

If admitted, you will be sent instructions on how to enroll. Typically, you will receive a permission code. If there is a deadline to enroll, it will be listed in the email notification. Otherwise, you should enroll as soon as possible. If admitted and you do not plan to enroll, please email the instructor so we can give your seat to another student.

Classes with applications do not have waitlists in CalCentral. If you receive an email saying that you are on the waitlist, that is an unofficial waitlist (not on CalCentral) and there is no waitlist ranking system.
